Lovely antique movement, unsure of age but I would estimate around 1760-1770. There is a J Dalgleish Edinburgh listed in Brittens for a longcase clock made in 1750. The movement would have originally been a verge escapement but has been converted into a lever. This would have been expensive to do and probably took place 100 years after this was made when owners were informed of the benefits of the lever escapement over the verge escapement and paid for the conversion to keep their watches more “up to date” It is not working currently, chain present and secure, but the balance is stiff and not rotating freely at all, the pivots seem ok there is no play in the balance so it requires work. Original dial and beetle hand present, lovely ornate level of finishing with diamond endstone.
