I want to give a comprehensive review in hopes that it may help anyone who may share a similar situation to mine. After researching bars from various manufacturers for my 2021 Africa Twin Adventure Sports, I settled on the Outback Motortek bars. Although I’m sure many buyers do their own install, I wasn’t comfortable doing that at this point, especially with my bike still being under warranty. I contacted the local dealer who does my service to see if they could get these bars. They contacted Outback, who told them they did not sell to dealers. I wanted to get an estimate for the install, and planned to show the pdf installation instructions to the service manager to get an estimate. I couldn’t find the pdfs for the newer Africa Twins (1100) online, and then confirmed with Outback that they had discontinued pdfs for newer versions, and only had videos. It was pretty inconvenient for the dealer to have to look through videos to give an estimate but they did. Ultimately, I purchased the ultimate protection combo max in matte black. The bars arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and I did receive a $20 credit from the flat rate shipping charge. The dealer recently installed my bars and they look great. The service manager raved about them, and how they were the strongest, most heavy duty crash bars they had ever seen. I am very impressed with the workmanship, and the fit and finish of the bars. I have seen a lot of bars that don’t appear centered (closer to tank on one side of bike than the other). These look perfect. Another important point to me was that the bars in no way interfere with my legs or feet while riding the bike. Overall, while I was frustrated at times with the process, I’m very glad I was patient and followed through with this purchase.
